The Wild Ride Education Company (WREC) is a Section 21 (ie: non profit) Company. The ultimate goal of the race was to set up a Trust Fund whereby monies generated by the race and the competitors could be used to assist with needy projects along the coastline.

Our target at this stage is to build classrooms. Between Imana Foods and the race fund we have thus far built ten classrooms to date (2009). WREC is a means whereby competitors and anyone else can officially donate funds to be used in improving education facilities and community upliftment along the coastline between Kei Mouth and Umngazi.

The Imana Wild Ride is privileged to be able to ride along this unique stretch of coastline and we feel the need to give back to the peoples of the Wild Coast who willing afford us the opportunity of riding through their back yards.

WREC is also an answer to Imana’s challenge to build a classroom for each one they build. It is a transparent means by which the ‘Wild Ride Family’ can see where their money is being spent and in the knowledge that they not only get to experience one of the most exhilarating four days anyone can imagine on a mountain bike, but they are contributing to making a difference to a very underprivileged community.
